Business women asks petitioners who filed a case against victory of Donya to pull up

Business women in Kisii County have asked the two petitioners who filed a case challenging the victory of Kisii County woman member of the national assembly Dorice Donya Aburi to step down.
This was after the two petitioners Ezekiel Okenye and Job Nyabuto filed their joint petition against the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Kisii County Returning officer Michael Kosgei and Kisii County woman member of the national assembly Dorice Donya Dorice Donya Aburi.
Speaking with the press in Kisii Town, the business women led by their chair Janice Kwamboka said that Donya’s victory was not to be challenged, the victory was overwhelming.
She said that they did not benefit from the National Government Affirmative Fund Action (NGAFF) from the former Kisii county woman member of the national assembly Janet Ong’era .
“We voted for the former woman member of the national assembly Ong’era for two terms, we would not witness any progress in the county, let her accept defeat,” she said.
According to Kwamboka, they vote for the young ambitious lady who can bring more development in the county.
She further noted that the decision was made due to the underdevelopment of the county as women they did not felt impact of having the representative who was enriching herself.

Nepotism and corruption
They further said that the former woman representative employed her relatives and she did not had interest of the common mwananchi at heart.
According to them they said that the former representative misused her office in the expense of the vulnerable Kisii residents.
They called the opponents to accept the results and support Donya to move the county to a better position rather than dwelling on the things which derails the county.
Legal support
On their side Kisii high court Young lawyers said that they are going to give free legal services to the Kisii national woman representative Donya.
Bonuke Biyaki advocate of high court said that they believe that Donya won fairly and said that they will support her till the end.
She said that apart from being lawyers they are electorates and they supported her from the beginning and they were part of the team and believed in her manifesto.
“We support her as young leader with vision, we believed in her before we voted for her,” she said.
Grounds on petition
In the last elections,Dorice Aburi garnered (Wiper) 190,277 votes against former Woman Rep Janet Ong’era (ODM) 69,995,Teresa Bitutu (UDA) 40,972, Rachel Otundo ( 31,575 and ten others.
The petitioners are challenging Donya’s victory on the grounds of voter bribery, intimidation of former woman member of the national assembly Janet Ong’era’s supporters and coordinated violence from Donya and Kisii country governor Simba Arati’s supporters.
“The petitioners are aggrieved the results and contends that the elections was not conducted in free fair, verifiable and accurate and credible manner, “read the report.
The petitioners argue, Ong’era’s agents and others were denied entry to the polling station which is a crucial significance for a free fair and credible elections.
“Some of the ballot boxes from Nyamisaro primary school were not sealed during the time of delivery at Nyamache, constituency tally center, “read a section of the petition.
The petitioners says that several chief agents complained to the presiding officers and the police officers based at the polling stations, however no action was taken to address the same.
They further argues that there were unreasonable and unaccounted delay in the transportation of the ballot boxes from Nysamisaro primary school polling station, raising questions as to the credibility and verification of the results.
They also say that there was willful, deliberate criminal tampering and manipulation of the results of the Kisii county woman member of the national assembly.
