Her name is One Kgabunga
23 years from a village called Lentsweletau in Botswana.
I was traversing through the Foodies bw Facebook page when I came across lunch bar, smarties that were homemade!
Comments were pouring in for the young dynamic Baker from Botswana and I drew her for a one on one interview which resulted in our nutshell if not skeletal biography but nevertheless she related her story very well to me.
Well she realized that she can make different types of candys, chocolates and biscuits around December 2021.
That’s when she started doing the likes of Romany creams, Toppers, lunch bar chocolate and smarties candy, from the looks alone she is very talented.
But firstly she said that she was hustling by doing desserts/ truffle treats for occasions like baby showers, birthday parties and weddings.
Her biggest challenge right now is finance
She says that she don’t really have funds to do branding and all necessary procedures to finally have her products on big shops like Spar, Choppies and other supermarkets.
However the youth funding program from Botswana closed before she could think of making an application hence she is appealing to those who can invest or sponsor her talent in Botswana or abroad to help her.
There is a chance for her to succeed more because the market is not saturated much and recently the government has put on tariffs on baking giving priority to local bakers first.
However she stands hopeful for the best as more exposure is coming up and she can see the light at the end other tunnel.
Ooh well my goal is to have my products on the shelves of big supermarkets🙂🙂
I wanna be like Bakers or Curdburry
Owing a brand that can do different types of desserts be it biscuits, candys , chocolate)
I pray every day to have a sponsor who can fund me so that my dreams comes true♥️ i have hope because God never disappoints 🙏
