Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged the Ministry of Agriculture senior officers to ensure that various projects conform with the Kenya Kwanza government Plan.
He told Principal Secretaries of the Ministry and project coordinators to assess the status of projects under their watch and identify areas of improvement for effective and efficient implementation.
While addressing the senior officials during a consultative meeting at his Harambee Annex office, the Deputy President noted that agriculture remained a key sector to country’s economy and thus every effort must be made to make it more efficient and profitable to its stakeholders.
“This is why the Kenya Kwanza Administration is keen on ensuring the sector continues to support lives and livelihoods for sustained economic growth,” he said.
Further, he observed, “Various projects under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, funded by the Government of Kenya and Development partners, have borne fruit, but we want to do more and align the strategic priorities of the sector to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda”.
He urged the project coordinators to quickly align the various projects with the Kenya Kwanza Plan, especially on key pillars of Agriculture; Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME); Housing and Settlement; Healthcare; Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy; Environment and Climate Change.
Gachagua reminded the officials that President William Ruto is keen on the performance of all the projects to deliver on the Kenya Kwanza Plan.
