ANC party delegates briefing journalists
By MKT Reporter
The Amani National Congress Party (ANC) has unanimously voted to merge with the United Democratic Party (UDA) in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached following a meeting of 160 party officials, delegates, and elected leaders.
The move aims to strengthen the Kenya Kwanza coalition’s political position and prepare for the next general election.
All party organs have adopted the merger process, and negotiations are underway to decide the way forward.
An advisory committee is being set up to steer the merger process. The merger will help Kenya Kwanza negotiate with like-minded parties to win more seats at the county and national levels ahead of the 2027 General Election.
ANC Party leader Lamu Governor Issa Timamy will be part of the select committee steering the merger process.
ANC National Chairman Vincent Lunani commended the delegates and party officials for voting for the merger, pointing out that it will further the party’s political position at the national level.
