Baby Sagini’s Aunt to be Detained for Four Days Awaiting for Probe

Aunt to  baby Sagini  who  is a suspect to  gouging of  the eyes  of a three year old baby  to be detained for four days awaiting for the pending investigation.

Pasificah Nyakerario a suspect appeared at Kisii Law Court before Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Ogweno for a miscellaneous application over gouging out the eyes of Sagini Junior on the 13/12/2022   at Ikuruma village Marani Sub County in Kisii County.

Nyakerario  was arrested in Kasarani area in Nairobi on 19/12/2022 and was later transferred to Kisii police station.

Prosecutor Hilary Kaino told the court, Nyakerario who is the mother of the suspect Alex Maina  Ochogo and the key suspect in this case was the last person seen with baby Sagini before she travelled to Nairobi.

Kaino asked the Court to detain the suspect at Rioma police station to help detectives conclude the investigations.

Nyakerario agreed to be detained and told the court, she had travelled early before the incident happened to see her children in the city and left everything well at home.

Nyakerario and his son Ochogo will be detained at Rioma police station and the two will be arraigned in court on 23/12/2022   depending on the outcome of the investigations.

Senior Resident Magistrate said that, the court has considered the oral submission and the suspect to be detained at Rioma Police station for four days as detectives conclude investigation.

The Magistrate ordered the OCS at Rioma police station to provide her with security for those four days.

Meanwhile Sagini’s Father was arrested on 19/12/2022 and detained at Rioma police station as detectives conclude investigations over defilement allegations he is linked to with Sagini’s elder sister.

However Kisii governor Simba Arati said that the National government will shelter baby Sagini and his sister in a new safe house.

Mr Arati said that she was assured by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Affirmative Action and Gender Aisha Jumwa said that , the two will now be taken care of by the government and the two will be transferred to new safe house in Nairobi.
