Base Yetu, private entity that promotes talents and vision for the young people across the country is calling for inclusion of Pool Game in learning institutions’ sporting activities.
This, the firm says will help learners not only in critical thinking but also exploring various talents amongst the youth.
The firm Chief Executive Officer Nick Mararo has also been agitating for the funding of the game just like the way government does to other sporting events like football, athletics, volleyball among others.
On Saturday, Base Yetu organized a pool tournament in Eldoret town where scores of players competed for various prizes.
The event held at Foxy’s Wagon Wheel Hotel in the home of champions town saw the best player, Brian Lot Kiprop take home a cash prize of Sh30,000.
During the tournament which was the third leg, a Ugandan; Erick koech emerged the second best while Elvis Kiplagat and Maasai kimani took positions three and four respectively.
Ms Nancy Tunai emerged the best female player and like other top winners also took home her cash prize.
The tournament was graced by several artists led by Inspekta Mwala, Lion and Mbusii.
Inspector Mwala led other artists and entertainers in sensitising Eldoret residents in particular and Kenyans in general on the need to embrace Pool game as a sporting activity like they do to football, volleyball, darts, netball and athletics among other games.
“Pool is a game just like football or athletics. It is making youth busy, take away from crime and make them earn a living,” Inspector Mwala told the residents in various stopovers in the town.
A similar tournament took place a week ago where more than 100 players took part with Stanley Kandie emerging the winner.
Two weeks ago, the Base Yetu CEO Nick Mararo graced the first pool edition in the town where he asked the government to consider supporting the game.
Pool game is by the day becoming popular among people of all ages, but is mostly loved by the youth.
Base Yetu has in the recent past organized such interactive tournaments in various parts of the country.
Youths support Mararo’s call for the government to invest in the game saying it another way of actively and positively engaging the young people most of whom are jobless.
