A Tea farmers’ organisation and a Nairobi based climate adaptation specialist firm are planning to educate farmers in how to be planting crops that are climate resilient.
The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) through its corporate social responsibility arm, KTDA Foundation is partnering with ADAPTA, a Nairobi climate adaptation Fintech in sensitising the farmers.
Last week, the two entities signed an agreement to launch the farmers’ tea replanting and income diversification program.
The program aims on training farmers to grow climate resilient crops, chicken and dairy farming.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by among others, KTDA Foundation’s Head Sudi Mataara, ADAPTA CEO German Veega and ADAPTA COO Madleine Mwithiga.
Through this initiative, tea farmers in various parts of the country are expected to get more knowledge on how to get extra income as changes in climate change continues to affect production of tea.
