Nyeri County government yesterday held consultative meetings for its County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP).
Hundreds of the local residents converged at the county’s eight sub-county headquarters where they preented their proposals.
Senior government officials, mostly led by County ministers led the residents in their deliberations.
CIDP is a five-year county’s development blueprint outlining the strategic development objectives, specific goals, clear implementation plan, monitoring and evaluation framework and clear reporting mechanisms.
It provides a clear path to be followed in order to achieve the county’s vision over the medium term.
The County Government of Nyeri is in the process of developing the third generation CIDP for the period of the year 2023-2027.
Subsequently, in adherence to the constitution requirement and in fulfillment of its mandate, the County Government is determined to play its part by engaging key actors and the public to strengthen devolution and guarantee maximum benefit to its citizenry.
Public participation is an integral part in decision making in the planning and budget process.
It is in view of this, that the county government through the Department of Finance & Economic Planning organized public participation eight forums to ensure the input from the community inform the process of the third generation CIDP formulation.
This engagement therefore provided a chance to wananchi to outline and provide views on the specific problems and development issues affecting them.
The forums were held in Nyeri, Othaya, Mukurwe-ini, Tetu, Mathira East and West, Kieni East and West sub counties.
