UK-based charity constructs new classrooms to ease congestion and lift learning standards at a Trans-Nzoia school

A United Kingdom-based charity has reaffirmed its commitment to improving education in Kenya, commissioning new classrooms at Bikeke Junior School in Trans-Nzoia County aimed at easing overcrowding and creating a better environment for pupils.
Speaking at the commissioning, Peter Woodman said Classrooms for Kenya, backed significantly by The Weald School in the United Kingdom, remains dedicated to supporting quality education by providing modern learning facilities.
Woodman, who attended alongside team leader Heidi Tucker and Country Chairlady Justina Sitti, said the warm reception from the school community was encouraging and pledged continued collaboration to raise education standards.
Kiminini Sub-County Director of Education Florence Nyongesa also addressed the gathering, commending the partnership for complementing government efforts to provide a conducive learning environment for pupils.
School head Ronald Francis Toili Wamalwa thanked Classrooms for Kenya and its partners for the support, noting that the new classrooms would significantly ease congestion and improve the quality of teaching and learning.
Wamalwa said the school, established in 1976, currently enrols 1,386 pupils and employs 44 teachers, serving learners from Early Childhood Development and Education through to Grade 9.
He added that the support had not only benefited Bikeke but had contributed to improved learning conditions across many other schools in Kenya, and urged other development partners to invest in education infrastructure to meet the growing demand for quality facilities.
