This is an indicator that if you engage in corruption, the police will be looking for you, other agencies will be on the watch out for you and you will not be able to sleep. Therefore when you think you are getting golden sleep, you will be having nightmares. My clarion call to you is that we must avoid corruption at all cost,’ said Prime Cabinet Secretary.
  • Mudavadi said, ‘We must all learn to work hard, honestly and work with progression so that we can have that golden bed and eventually golden sleep because you sweated for it.

Kenyans should wake up to the reality that as a nation, our demographics have changed drastically in favour of youth, says Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Speaking when he joined Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire for a tree planting exercise at Kangaru School, Mudavadi said the country should take advantage of the youth numbers and integrate them in decision-making.

He urged learners to maximise their time in school to produce stellar performance as an investment in the future.

“The name Kangaru is so important that if we are to write the history of education in this country, it will not be complete if Kangaru is left out of history. This means you have a reputation, a legacy and you cannot afford to have it distorted. We rely and depend on you. Therefore safeguard the reputation of both Kangaru and the legacy that the pallbearer has left. Let’s build on it,’ said Mudavadi.

Prime Cabinet Secretary went on to tell learners to put their best foot forward to become reputable people in society. He further urged students to take keen note of what teachers  say as their sole  goal in students life is to make them dependent one oneself and their ability. They are providing them with tools for a better life ahead.

Mahatma Gandhi once said, ‘If you want to help a man you do not give him a fish but rather give him a fishing rod to learn how to fish. Teachers here, your parents and the community are making sure you learn how to fend for yourself and not become a dependent on other people,’ said Mudavadi.

Mudavadi alluded to the late retired president Moi who when addressing corruption menace in the country once said, ‘You can buy golden bed but you cannot buy golden sleep.’ He further urged Kenyans to desist from corruption as this vice will end up hindering the developments and nation building.

‘We must say no to corruption and fight this vice. We can get quick money, but quick money gives you nightmares. This is an indicator that if you engage in corruption, the police will be looking for you, other agencies will be on the watch out for you and you will not be able to sleep. Mudavadi said, ‘We must all learn to work hard, honestly and work with progression so that we can have that golden bed and eventually golden sleep because you sweated for it.

Mudavadi went on to urge to desist from peer pressure of alcohol and substance as it will derail their life leading to addiction, unwanted pregnancies and eventually dropping out of school.

‘Be strong, be upright, shun away from alcohol and substance abuse. It does not help, it does not pay, it will just be a pain to you, family and community. Let us all desist from this vices. If we do that the legacy and reputation of Kangaru boys and girls shall endure forever, said the Prime Cabinet Secretary.’

Mudavadi summed up by wishing learners well in their examination and endeavours. He further emphasized on learners being innovative in bringing new inventions and ideas.

‘We want new ideas and let us all leverage in history and not live in history. For anybody who was listening, We all now know that the young people of today as much as they want us to leverage on history, they also want as to talk about the future and work towards the future, paused Mudavadi.’

Embu has made us proud. It has become the center of gravity in the Country for this week. We shall crown it on the 1st of June as Kenya becomes 60. For the youths, you are the ones to lead us so that we shall be talking of when Kenya becomes 100. Start to visualize on what you are going to do to drive Kenya ahead.

Embu County is known for macadamia farming owing to the fact that it is the largest producer of macadamia in the African Great Lakes.
