President William Ruto has been urged to convene peace conferences to address the disunity among Kenyans.

Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) chairman Dr Thuo Mathenge says it is only through such forums that Kenyans can have a platform to air their grievances and the best way forward.

The conferences should be convened at various regional levels and be spearheaded by church leaders.

Speaking when he appeared on Inooro TV where he was hosted by Kamau Kangethe on Wednesday,  Dr Mathenge noted that Kenyan communities were bitter of each other and the issue could best be addressed during such forums where citizens will be free to give proposals.

He said that out of the conferences proposals, the government will be able to address various issues that will be raised and thereby create harmony among citizens.

At the same time, Dr Mathenge called for the unity of the Kikuyu community whom he leads as the Patron.

He proposed that even before the regional peace conferences take place the largest community in the country should chart its way forward through dialogue.

Dr Mathenge who is also the chairman of The New Democrats (TND) party suggested that a team of four leaders should call a meeting for various community leaders to address the cause of disunity among the community.

He said the four should be former President Uhuru Kenyatta,  Nyeri Catholic Archbishop Anthony Muheria, PCEA Moderator Mutahi Thegu and AIPCA Archbishop Wang’ombe.

He noted that the major community’s undoing was lack of a compromise leader who the other leaders could led an ear.

He said most leaders were out yo serve their selfish interests at the expense of the community which was not good.

Saying peace was paramount to the country’s prosperity, Dr Mathenge urged leaders to counsel the youth and urge them to avoid activities that will derail development.

He said the protests being witnessed in the country would only affect the development of a country that is reeling with unemployment and poor economy.

On his party, he said they were mobilizing ahead of the forthcoming General Elections.

Last week, Dr Mathenge visited the Kikuyu community origin area, Mùkùrwe Wa Nyagathanga where he announced that he would be mobilizing other leaders for a prayer session to pray for the community.
