Dundori ward lies in agriforestry rich zone within Bahati Constituency, it boasts of being one the bread-baskets of Nakuru Town, and it is a zone that is popular due to its unique typography, and forestry.
The area has been quiet after the government the tree harvesting, and the locals have been going through tough times. Too, the locals have been witnessing a gradual death of the local town center, Dundori, due to low agricultural activities after the government banned locals from planting maize in the allot farming regions in the vast Dundori forest.
Low price for the farm products is another issue that is affecting the residents of Dundori Ward, and the results is income generating sources are being heavily closed such as hotels, saloons, shops and private schools. According to the residents, they believe a change of leadership could be the solution to their woes.
Many of the residents points out that, their challenges are more political than natural or economic oriented issues. They point out that the Mr.Maurice Maina Mugo, who is a local businessman, an educationalist and a TSP ward representative, is the person who have been fighting for the locals.
Majority of the residents concur that Mr. Mugo if elected can bring more changes, revive farming, revive the timber industry in the area, and also create more job opportunities for the local populace.
Considering Dundori also a water catchment area, people have hope he will help in establishing profitables ventures from locally sourced water.
Who is this Mr. Maurice Maina Mugo? He is an educationalist, farmer ,businessman and a teacher who have been in the teaching profession for over 18 years. His closeness to the people of Dundori Ward makes him the right candidate to bring change. With his wealth of experience in various disciplines, he will be in a position to ignite positive change in education, agriculture, security, health and forestry.
The reason Mr. Mugo stands out is due to his natural and an assuming approach to all issues affecting Dundori Ward. From Gathioro ,Dundori Center, Mugwathi, majority of the people recognizes the rules Mr. Mugo has played to empower the locals ,to them, he is the person they need.
