It’s alarming that there are no more big names in our midst. From our family background we are missing titles of fathers and mothers, due to either divorce or death. It has led to my children to be raised by single parents the worst of it all is that there are some who aborted and were up brought by well-wishers- adoption parents. Lacking of certain titles leaves a void that is irreplaceable and causes much tension and confusion leaving many questions unanswered.
It started as rumors but now is a reality. Many companies and employers are going for certificate and diploma graduate giving deaf ears to those who brag with their dusty degrees. Claims were being aired from many employers that they do spend a lot in taking back graduates to specialize in their field of specializations even after the latter have graduated with various bachelorβs degrees. It so funny that a graduate cannot give what is expected him or her. The trend is like after four good years in a higher institution you just pass through the system, the system does not pass through you at any point. The final product that wants to join a job market is half baked.
According to statistics of the previous KCSE result. More than 6000 students who had scored mean grade of C+ and above changed their taste and preferences and joined colleges and tertiary institutions. Does this means that being crowned with a degree is a waste? Most of students who join campus 70%-80% have a thought of changing their courses to end up doing education. In fields of medicine, Banking, law, finance, engineering biological, chemistry and physics oriented courses are now seen as an outcast.
That is why a bank or financial institution prefers a diploma holder in related area than a graduate with a degree. Thatβs why, news media prefer a diploma holder who have undergo much practical than a good for nothing graduate that will run things to shambles. As a student in a higher institution of learning the ball is on your side itβs upon you to choose whether to score or not. If you don’t score you may end up being a sleeping giant or a toothless fierce dog!
