James Gakuya on Saturday

Embakasi North Member of Parliament James Mwangi Gakuya has echoed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s unity call noting that it’s a foundation of economic and social stability.
Gakuya called on family members left behind by their patriarchs who have consolidated wealth to always amicably agree on consolidating or sharing it without animosity and undue selfishness and outside influence.
He was Speaking during the funeral service of pioneer entrepreneur Gerald Gikonyo Kanyuira at Wanjerere Village, Kangema constituency, Murang’a county on Saturday which was attended by several leaders, led by the Deputy President.
Kanyuira who breathed his last at a ripe age of 110 ventured into business in the early 50s and had vast interests in real estate, hospitality among others.
Gakuya urged entrepreneurs to have interest in political goings on as stability can only be brought about by sound economic policies and a vibrant business environment.
His Naivasha counterpart Jayne Kihara buttressed the importance of unity right from family up to the national level.
The two legislators advised families left by their parents not to recklessly dispose off properties for posterity, wealth and job creation.
Public Service cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria who also attended the ceremony trashed Gachagua’s unity call saying that those in government can easily resolve whatever issues there may be without “acting cry babies”.
Other notable celebrants included nominated senator and former UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina who hails from the area, Murang’a county senator Joe Nyutu, area MP Peter Kihungi and former Nairobi Deputy governor under Mike Sonko, Polycarp Igathe.
The late Kanyuira had 4 wives, 23 children, 123 grandchildren, 223 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren.
