Government Leaders Unite To Boost Nairobi Rivers Restoration Efforts

In a strong show of commitment to environmental sustainability, the Nairobi Rivers Commission (NRC) today hosted a high-level delegation of Principal Secretaries from the State Departments of Interior, Housing, Defence, Environment, Water & Sanitation, and Devolution, as well as the Director General of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA). The courtesy visit underscored the importance of a collaborative approach in the ongoing Nairobi Rivers Restoration Initiative.
The Principal Secretary for Interior, Dr. Raymond Omollo, praised the progress made in the ambitious project to restore Nairobi’s rivers, emphasizing the need for unified efforts. “Our discussions focused on the strides achieved so far and the pivotal role of the National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) in mobilizing local communities to champion and sustain this noble cause,” Dr. Omollo said.
The meeting also explored strategies to enhance cooperation among key stakeholders, ensuring long-term success in the initiative. Highlighting the broader implications of the project, Dr. Omollo noted, “This is more than an environmental endeavor—it’s about creating a cleaner, greener, and healthier future for our communities.
