Government Should Remember Students During Ongoing Lecturers’ Strike

The government should urgently address the ongoing lecturer strike, which disrupts the academic schedule and disrupts the continuous learning process for students. The strike results in missed lectures, potentially affecting students’ final examinations. It is essential that the government considers the lecturers’ rights, including fair compensation, and seeks an agreement to resolve this issue to safeguard the students’ learning continuity.
The absence of lecturers disrupts normal academic activities, as students rely on them to advance their understanding. Prolonged absence could result in poor academic performance, despite the significant financial sacrifices made by parents to pay tuition, cover rent, and support student accommodation. As time passes, the funds parents allocated for the semester may deplete, leading to further financial strain.
To prevent extended delays, including the risk of exams being postponed until next year and the disruption of the academic calendar, the government should urgently address lecturers’ concerns and facilitate their return to regular teaching. This will help students complete the semester successfully and on schedule.
