GOVERNOR DISTRIBUTES ITEMS FOR YOUTH, WOMEN AND PWDs EMPOWERMENT:
Nyeri County governor Mutahi Kahiga (holding salon equipment) and Mweiga ward MCA Njuguna Kawanjiku at Mweiga stadium yesterday.
Nyeri County Governor Mutahi Kahiga together with Mweiga ward MCA Njuguna Kawanjiku yesterday continued with the distribution of empowerment items to youth, women and PWDs groups in Mweiga ward, Kieni West sub-county.
The items have been purchased through the Department of Gender, Youth and Social Services under the Nyeri County Youth, Women and PWLDs Empowerment Programme. This programme has been implemented in 17 wards in the first phase and will be extended to 13 wards in the second phase.
The main goal of this programme is to incubate an assortment of income generating activities into viable economic activities for youth, women and People Living with Disability (PWLDs) which will graduate into established businesses for the social economic development of the county.
The governor distributed 500 motorcycle safety reflective sleeveless jackets, 100 motorcycle riders helmets, Welding machine, 20 shaving machines, 30 blow-dryers, public address system, camera, 700 Plastic chairs, 5 tea urns, 30 aluminum sufurias, carwash machine, 2 water tanks, 3 tents, 3 chaffing dishes, 3 wash sinks for salons, generator for public address and an incubator to members from 33 groups.
Also present were Gender CEC Esther Ndung’u, Education CEC Margaret Macharia, Chief of Staff Paul Wambugu, Gender Ag. Director Justus Munyiri, Nyeri UDA Senatorial aspirant William Wahome Wamatinga, Kieni constituency parliamentary aspirants Wachira Keen (CCK) and UDA party aspirants Alex Kamau Wachira – WaTotal, John Kariuki – Choromai, Amos Kanyai – Amo, Njoroge Wainaina – Ebenezer.
