Governor Simba Arati of Kisii County is urging the public to dismiss misleading rumors circulating on social media, claiming that he has terminated the employment of 740 county workers
In a recent statement, Governor Arati clarified that no employees have been terminated.
The rumors appear to have arisen due to letters sent to employees who were on the payroll but were absent during the staff audit exercise conducted from November 15, 2022, to December 15, 2022.
The letters issued to these 740 employees request an explanation for their absence during the audit.
Governor Arati emphasized that those who failed to participate in the county staff audit should provide an explanation to either the Chief Officer or the County Secretary regarding their absence.
Depending on the responses received within 21 days, appropriate actions, including salary adjustments, may be taken.
Additionally, Governor Arati noted that retired employees and those who have passed away should be removed from the payroll.
He reassured all employees that no one has been terminated, and they will continue to receive their salaries once they have justified their absence during the county staff audit.
