Honda Motors has urged the National government to offer incentives to local motorcycle manufacturers and assemblers to stimulate economic growth and create more job opportunities for young people.
Honda Kenya Managing Director Suiko Naoki stated that the ACE 150 motorcycle has been made for the Kenyan market, cementing its position as a market leader for motorcycles accessible to boda boda operators and delivery businesses.
Naoki emphasised that Honda has been strategic in helping Kenyans enhance their livelihoods by producing tools that save money, increase businesses, and move them towards their goals.
Honda Kenya Chairman and entrepreneur Dr. Isaac Kalua Green cited the manufacturing industry as a key area that the government should look into, as it has the potential to employ over 5 million Kenyans.
He urged the Ministry of Industrialization to ensure that every policy made can lead to greater opportunities for Kenyans, as the automotive sector is the greatest opportunity in the country and the lowest hanging fruit is in the motorcycle sector.
Dr. Green urged Kenya to work with five different local suppliers of the 14 parts and to pay 675 million in the last six years to create jobs for 4000 Kenyans.
