Dedan Kimathi Foundation (DKF) Joins Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) In A Tree Planting Exercise Along Ngong Road.
Nairobi City is well known for being densely populated with thousands of motorists. The high number of vehicles serving in the city emits a considerably high amount of carbon monoxide among other harmful gases that cause global warming by trapping heat.
Planting higher plants (trees) along the roads reduces carbon in the air by absorbing and storing it on their tissues. This lessens greenhouse effect and protects the ozone layer.
Last Saturday, Dedan Kimathi Foundation environment conservation team joined Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) in a tree planting exercise along Ngong Road. This second activity for DKF to attend took place between CTM to Junction Mall and had more than 1000 indigenous tree seedlings planted. KURA has a plan to grow as many trees as maybe required to green the urban roads. This will not only increase oxygen supply to the atmosphere but also increase the aesthetic value of the city besides cooling it.
In the event, Dedan Kimathi Foundation C.E.O; Evelyn Kimathi, promised to continue offering environmental conservation support including availing tree planting labor in the city to make it better.
