The Committee on Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library on Thurday engaged the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Board led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yusuf Mbuno to deliberate on strategies for showcasing the projects undertaken by the institution and their impact to Kenyans.
The Committee raised concerns on matters media and publicity in highlighting the impact of the constituency development projects as carried out in the country.
The Chair of the Parliamentary Broadcasting & Library, Daniel Nanok put the NG-CDF team to task to elaborate on the institution’s communication strategy including branding of NG-CDF projects indicating that there was need to scale up the dissemination of the Fund’s output at the grassroot level.
“We want to know how to synergize what is already happening to enhance “, said Nanok.
The Committee emphasized the need for a vibrant communication team that embrace the use of new media including social media and website in addition to the traditional media to disseminate comprehensive information to the public on the NG-CDF projects.

The NG-CDF Board through Mr. Mbuno acknowledged that information dissemination has become complex with the advent of fake news where non-factual information takes precedence over factual information.
He however committed that the management would endeavor to engage the media and particularly local media stations to air development projects in vernacular languages for local consumption.
Mr. Mbuno further stated that he will continue to integrate the use of ICT to propel digital communications as he encouraged members to endeavor to tell their success stories through different mediums including the production of leaflets, brochures, newsletters and websites.
Members however commended Mr. Mbuno for his efforts to always demystify the role of NG-CDF which has always been misconceived to mean money belonging to a member of parliament yet it is a fund meant for the social – economic development of the people.
According to the presentation made to the Committee, the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) is established under the NG-CDF Act 2015 as a National Government Fund consisting of monies not less than a half per centum (2.5%) of all the National Government’s share of revenue as divided by the Annual Division of Revenue Act enacted pursuant to Article 218 of the Constitution of Kenya; and additionally, comprises any monies accruing to the Board from any other Source.
