Jamii Imara Mashinani, acaucus for senior government officials from the mountain region and its diaspora was over the weekend in Meru County for a public engagement.
The officials, led by Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Ms Mary Muthoni met hundreds of area residents where they articulated various services and development initiatives by President William Ruto’s administration.
“We are taking government services closer to the people and giving communities a direct voice in shaping delivery is key to building trust and achieving better outcomes for Kenyans,” the PS said, adding, “The Jamii Imara Mashinani Initiative provides this platform as a public engagement forum, bridging the gap between government and citizens at the grassroots.”
The caucus motto is, “Tukutane, Tujadiliane na Tushirikiane” and is a people-first platform designed to capture community views, highlight opportunities and ensure that every citizen sees and feels the important of development at the grassroots.
The program initiative aims to enhance citizen engagement, provide platforms for community feedback, and facilitate access to government services at the grassroots.
Just like in other similar forums, held in other counties, in Meru, residents engaged directly with multi-agency government officials and accessed first-hand information on available services.
The officials highlighted BETA programs, including the rollout of Social Health Insurance, the role of Community Health Promoters in preventive care, and initiatives on hygiene promotion and the fight against drug and substance abuse.
