Kirinyaga Central Member of Parliament Gachoki Gitari has launched a borehole project that will benefit a college and hundreds of residents.
The new water source at Kirinyaga Central Technical and Vocational College, once completed will also be serving around 2000 residents.
The borehole will also provide water for Kingungu Primary School, Vocational Training College, and the surrounding community, alleviating water scarcity issues and promoting hygiene practices.
The project is part of a holistic approach towards education, community development, and environmental stewardship, fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership among individuals.
The Technical College Deputy Principal John Ngoroge appreciated the work of Kirinyaga Central NG-CDF, stating that the school had been struggling with water scarcity, especially for courses like masonry and hairdressing. He called on youths to take advantage of the vocational training school and register for technical and other courses offered at the school.
The MP also planted a tree, highlighting its long-term positive impacts on soil erosion, shade, carbon sinks, ecological balance, and wildlife. The initiative aims to address practical needs, promote sustainability, and nurture a vibrant and environmentally conscious community.
