AIC Konoin School leads by example in environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture, with support from area MP Maurice Kakai Bisau.
In a vibrant celebration of environmental stewardship, students of AIC Konoin Primary and Junior School in Kiminini Sub-County, Trans Nzoia County, gathered with enthusiasm to take part in a tree-planting exercise aimed at boosting agriculture and greening the school environment.
The initiative received a major boost from Mr. Bisau, who donated fertilizer to support the school’s agricultural efforts. His gesture was met with cheers from students and appreciation from the school’s leadership.
Mr. Francis Toili Wamalwa, the Head of Institution, emphasized the role of trees in combating climate change and enhancing the health of future generations. “By the end of the day, we will have planted over 50 trees,” he announced proudly, noting that such activities also contribute to the beautification of the school environment.
The school has already planted an impressive 45,000 trees and is now seeking buyers for its tree seedlings. The funds generated will go towards the construction of a school science laboratory—an investment in both environmental sustainability and academic excellence.
Mr. Wamalwa encouraged students to extend their environmental efforts beyond the school. “Grow trees not only here, but also at home. Trees are vital for water conservation and soil erosion prevention, which directly supports agricultural productivity.”
In alignment with the presidential directive to plant one million trees, AIC Konoin is positioning itself as a model institution in both education and environmental responsibility.
