Equity Bank senior management officials yesterday met with Laikipia County governor Joshua Irungu where they explored various partnership areas.
The consultative meeting was led by Equity Bank’s Chief Executive Officer James Mwangi.
The main objective of the meeting was to seek ways of partnership between the County Government and the Equity Group Foundation on creating shared value for communities and ways we can collaboratively support Laikipia residents through financial and technological innovations.
Possible areas of collaboration discussed included providing affordable and high-quality healthcare, utilizing revolutionary alternative energy solutions to create wealth, conserving the environment through forest cover expansion, improving water security and renewable energy, expanding agricultural production to help create jobs and improve market access, providing education and leadership development through the Wings to Fly scholarship program and the Equity Leaders Program (ELP).
“My administration will also work collaboratively with Equity Bank to provide Financial Access to SME and Rural Population in Agriculture Using Technology (FASRAT) to 60,000 farmers and 5000 SMEs over a three-year period, while promoting entrepreneurship and financial inclusion,” said the governor after the meeting.
The county team also included area deputy governor Reuben Kamuri and other county officials.
