Laikipia County governor Joshua Irungu yesterday held a consultative meeting with Matatu operators in Nanyuki town who are embroiled in parking rows.
The Governor convened the meeting following the recent feud between Matatu Saccos in Laikipia and Meru counties over the licensing of the main Stage in Nanyuki town, which hadย paralyzed public transportation for the last two days.
During the meeting, the operators were urged to embrace peaceful coexistence for maximum profitability of their businesses.
The meeting was attended by among others Laikipia East constituency MP Mwangi Kiunjuri and his North Imenti counterpart Rahim Dawood as well as security officials to look for a lasting solution.
Also present were County Secretary Koinange Wahome and other County officials.
The leaders of the matatu Saccos in Nanyuki and Meru were urged to put aside their differences and work together, especially during the holiday season, to maintain peace and stability between the two counties.
