Leaders Want Dialogue Between Gov’t And Opposition Fast Tracked

The parliamentary bipartisan team has been urged to fast-track its task to enable the country moves on.

Leaders from different affiliations have welcomed the imitative which they now want to move to the next phase for the sake of country’s security and economy.

During the Easter weekend, a section of leaders from Mt Kenya region met in Karandi area, Laikipia County where they called for the need by the bipartisan team to fast track its task in order to end the impasse between the government and the opposition.

The leaders led by Amani Sasa Patron Maina Njenga and The New Democrat (TND)Party Leader Dr Thuo Mathenge said that the process to jump start the bipartisan approach to address the matters raised by the Azimio leader Raila Odinga and his team in the opposition should be given a first priority.

Mr Njenga has said that speedy conclusion of the process will allow Kenyans and the government to focus on the economic transformation programme.

He noted that high cost of living and hard economic times had taken a toll on Kenyans hence the need to speed up the process and allow the country to move on.

The Amani Sasa Foundation patron said that there was also a need for leaders to avoid making divisive political utterances that can lead to collapsing of the process.

Mr Njenga at the same time called for the need to look into how the constitution should be amended to bring equalization in the country. He called for review of some sections of the constitution which could be a thorn in the fresh.

His call for inclusion of religious leaders and other experts finding the solutions of the issues that have been raised by the opposition were echoed by Dr Mathenge who proposed for an all-inclusive committee that will be formed to look into the demands raised by Azimio group instead of the matter being only taken over by Members of Parliament.

The two leaders who spoke during a meeting with hundreds of youths drawn from Laikipia, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Kiambu and Murang’a asked Kenyans to live in harmony and embrace their diversity and reject calls from politicians that may lead to enmity.

They called on the youths to resist social and political leaders who drive divisions they urged Kenyans to remain committed to national cohesion and co-existence.

Dr Mathenge said that Kenyans should only embrace leaders who have solutions for the challenges being experienced by Kenyans.

Saying he had a dream of one day becoming the President of Kenya,  Dr Mathenge called on Kenyans to always go for visionary leaders, adding that him and Njenga were charting a way of holding forums aimed at uniting all citizens, irrespective of their economic, social or political affiliations.

The youths in the meeting vowed to embrace peace and harmony and assist the two leaders, alongside others in bringing harmony in the country.
