In as much as the government is trying its level best to establish and grow the Competence Based Curriculum, it should also consider the challenges that come with it. We all know that change has a price, and parents are the ones paying a lot.

The Competence Based Curriculum requires a lot of resources i.e. learning materials as compared to the 8-4-4 system. Providing these resources is not going to be easy for parents living in a country with a paralysed economy and who are still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic. Most teachers are also confused and in a dilemma about this issue. They are not sure what will be their fate since the only option they’ve got is to go back and be acquitted with some training about the new curriculum. The training is costly.

I think it’s not a good idea for the government to continue with this curriculum now that we are undergoing economic crisis. I strongly advise the government to revert to the old system of learning and do some more research to determine the right time to introduce the Competence Based Curriculum.
