After living for nearly seven decades without shaving her hair, Field Marshall Mukami Kirima finally let her treasure go.
In an incident that attracted divergent views, former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta travelled to Nyeri town with one mission; to assist the former freedom fighter shed her hair.
Accompanied by Kikuyu elders, women leaders and other dignitaries, Mama Ngina cut the octogenarian treasured hair.
She was accompanied by among others, Kieni MP Kanini Kega, Nairobi County gubernatorial seat aspirant Agnes Kagure, Nyeri County Deputy Governor Carol Karugu, Maendeleo Ya Wanawake official Purity Ngunjiri, Kikuyu Council of Elders chairman Wachira Kiago and Kìama Kìama chairman Ndung’u Gathuma.
Dozens of former freedom fighters witnessed the rare ceremony held less than two kilometres from Nyeri town.
