Practical attachment is a mandatory course to all undergraduate university and college students that determines their ability to showcase what they have been taught in class.
In a meeting that brought together students going for attachment and Lecturers, Moi University students were on Thursday acquainted with what is expected of them while undertaking their industrial attachment course.
While addressing students present during the session at the institution’s LT1 lecture hall, Mr. Musakali Juma Joseph, a lecturer in Moi University took time to urge students to maintain high standards of discipline and always focus on their studies as required by the course.
“It is a requirement you go for attachment. When you get opportunities, strive to shine in your area of professionalism.” He said.
Mr. Musakali however noted that, media is a very competitive field that requires students to be creative and go an extra mile to prove their prowess to potential employers.
“Firms require to know how smart you are. Having a blog for instance can be an added advantage for you.” He added.
On his side, Mr. Gilbert Lang’at, a lecturer in Moi University reminded students to be assets and not liabilities while doing the practical course to impress and perhaps secure employment opportunities thereafter.
“When assigned duties, always do your best. Do not be a bother to the company but be an asset.” Mr. Lang’at said.
Other lessons learnt during a 2 hour session were; general appearance, dressing, time keeping, appropriate use of office resources and completion of tasks among others.
