Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni yesterday convened a meeting with Amref Health Africa team lead by Country Director, Dr. Meshack Ndirangu, for a consultative meeting focused on joint efforts between the ministry and AMREF to effectively respond to public health emergency such as Mpox, Kalazar and improve public health sanitation. During the meeting, the progress of ongoing initiatives were reviewed and strategies to strengthen future collaborations were discussed. This partnership aims to enhance disease prevention, control measures and sanitation practices.
The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Aden Duale yesterday hosted the leadership of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) at Afya House, Nairobi, to review the implementation status of the Return-to-Work Agreement. The union was represented by Secretary-General Dr. Davji Bhimji Atellah, Chairperson Dr. Abidan Mwachi, and other senior members. The CS who was accompanied by the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to constructive engagement with the union. He recognized the pivotal role of healthcare workers in sustaining quality health service delivery nationwide, noting that safeguarding their welfare and rights is central to the successful rollout of the government’s Taifa Care model. Duale reiterated the government’s dedication to continued consultations with key stakeholders in the health sector to identify sustainable, long-term solutions that will enhance access to quality, affordable healthcare under Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda. He further emphasized the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to fully implementing the Return-to-Work Formula, commending KMPDU for its continued cooperation and highlighting the importance of structured dialogue and mutual accountability in addressing outstanding matters.
The Ministry of Environment acknowledges the vital role played by the private sector in advancing the Presidential Directive of growing 15 billion trees by 2032. Their active participation, alongside other stakeholders, is a testament to the successful implementation of the whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach.
Speaking during the launch of the Tupande Tree Growing Programme 2025, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Barasa commended the restoration efforts undertaken by the private sector in pushing forward the government flagship program of increasing the country’s tree cover by 30 per cent by 2032. The CS emphasized that One Acre Fund, through its Kenyan program, Tupande, has played an extraordinary and pivotal role in collaborating with smallholder farmers to support the government’s environmental goals. She warned against unlawful activities in forests, such as encroachment, farming, and illegal logging, noting that the government has taken decisive legislative and policy measures to protect forest ecosystems.
Principal Secretary Joseph M Motari received a courtesy call from the African Christian Professionals Forum (ACPF), a network that brings together Christian professionals across Africa from various denominations, united by shared values on life, family, education, religious freedom, and governance. The delegation was led by Mrs. Ann Mbugua, Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and Chairperson of the Africa Christian Professionals Forum. The discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming Pan-African Conference on Family Values, scheduled to take place from 12th to 17th May 2025 at the Boma Hotel, Nairobi. The conference will explore policies and strategies to strengthen family values, safeguard religious freedom, and uphold national sovereignty amidst emerging global challenges.

Principal Secretary for Interior Dr Raymond Omollo who is also the patron of Association of National Government Administrators of Kenya (ANGAK), presided over the organisation’s 9th Anniversary and Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is the organisation of national body bringing together over 300 serving and retired Regional, County and Deputy County Commissioners from across the country. The event offered a platform for reflection on ANGAK’s remarkable journey and a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to the welfare and professional development of National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs), both in active service and in retirement. The meeting deliberated on key issues affecting the NGAO fraternity, explored strategies to strengthen institutional support and recommitted themselves to ensuring that officers who serve at the heart of government coordination, peacebuilding and public service delivery continue to enjoy the dignity, recognition and well-being they deserve, during and beyond their years of service.
Laikipia county Deputy Governor Reuben Kamuri who is also the chairman of Deputy Governors Forum yesterday led his colleagues from the caucus in presenting their views before the Senate Standing Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations during the Public Hearing on the County Governments Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024. They reviewed and highlighted key issues from their collective submissions; officially submitted to the Clerk of the Senate and the Committee on 25th March 2025; focusing on strengthening devolution, enhancing intergovernmental collaboration, and ensuring the Bill reflects the realities and aspirations of county governments across the country.
