Land ownership affirmed by possession of a title deed has huge social and economic benefits. Mzee Muhidini Musa and Mama Juliana Msongori will from yesterday know the transformational power of receiving title deeds for their land. Earlier yesterday, Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki while at Eldoro area in Taita Taveta County presided over issuance of 2,300 title deeds and received updates from the local community on the progress of National Government projects in Taita Taveta County. MPs; Lydia Haika Mizighi (Woman Representative, Taita Taveta County), John Bwire (Taveta), Peter Shake (Mwatate), Danson Mwashako (Wundanyi), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Former Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu, Former Taveta MP Naomi Shaban, Members of Taita Taveta County Assembly, community leaders and residents were also present.
A total of 825 needy students from Murang’a County have had their hope of continuing with education reignited after being awarded bursaries.
Murang’a Women Representative Betty Maina, through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) kitty, distributed bursaries worth Sh6.4 million.The students, drawn from vulnerable and underprivileged backgrounds who would otherwise have challenges paying school fees, will have their secondary and tertiary education sponsored. The Women Representative, observed that her office is committed to ensuring that all students from underprivileged backgrounds have an equal chance to education as those from rich family backgrounds.
At 38, Evans Oloo defied the odds by enrolling as a priate candidate for the 2024 KCSE exams, alongside his son, Fabjames Omondi. Though he scored a mean grade of D (plain), his determination to chase his academic dreams has sparked inspiration far beyond the classroom.
Ogor attained a mean grade of D (plain), while his son excelled with a mean grade of B (plain) at Oriwo Boys High School. Ogor is said to have never attended any classes since he last sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary School (KCPE) in the year 2000. His education was interrupted after the loss of his parents, which forced him into the welding trade to support his younger siblings. Now, driven by his dream of becoming a magistrate in order to advocate for justice in Homa Bay County, Ogor plans to resit the KCSE exams this year. His goal is to secure a university placement and pursue a law degree.
The Government is consolidating the various programs and initiatives on youth empowerment for greater impact. Youth Empowerment Centres, ICT hubs and all programs and projects aimed at providing youth with employment and income opportunities are the pillars of our national youth empowerment ecosystem.
Initiatives in music, film, fashion and the creatives are integral to all round youth development outlook. Yesterday, Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki held an inter-agency review of initiatives across Government for job creation, innovation incubation and youth development policy initiatives.
