Quality seed is the one which has genetic purity, physical purity, viability, and a good physiological condition in accordance with the prescribed standards of seed certification, which is a crucial step in seed production and marketing done to maintain high-quality seed standards while making them available to farmers for a good and quality yield, says KEPHIS Managing Director, Prof. Theophilus M. Mutui.
KEPHIS is undertaking stakeholder sensitisation on the importance of certified seed to increase awareness and access to certified seed while also enhancing the ability to detect fake seed and report for further legal and procedural action.
Vihiga County, in partnership with Stanbic Bank Kenya and Microsoft, is offering a digital training programme to Technical, Vocational, and Educational Training instructors. Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo underscored the importance of digital skills, stating that they are enablers for accessing and disseminating information on digital devices. “We recognise the important role played by the TVET institutions in equipping the learners with skills for self-reliance, noting that they produce graduates who are capable of setting up their own enterprises to earn a living,” he said. The training will equip participants with digital freelancing, transcription, digital marketing, and social media management skills.

Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Eng. Eric Muriithi yesterday received a delegation from The Institution of Engineers of Kenya ( IEK). The CS is a corporate member of the institution. The team was led by the president Eng. Shammah Kiteme. Among issues discussed include Non -Revenue Water (NRW), absorption of technology, innovation design for onsite technology and championing role of engineers in development.
To achieve universal water coverage by 2030, the CS called upon the engineers to be part of the team and play a central role in order to achieve the objectives of supplying clean water and sanitation for all. The CS was flanked by the Water Secretary Eng. SAO Alima and Eng. Bernard Onyango the Director Irrigation and Drainage.
