The President also inspected the ongoing construction of the Proposed Affordable Housing Project in the area and later addressed local residents.
Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in collaboration with the County Governments, the agripreneurship program, is set to transform the agricultural sector. This initiative aims to recruit over 10,000 youth into agriculture, with seven agripreneurs assigned per ward. Through the Green Army initiative, the young people will receive training and support to enhance productivity and sustainability in farming. This effort not only strengthen food security and economic growth but creates employment .
Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Environment Aden Duale yesterday chaired a consultative meeting with the Forestry Sector on the overview of the 8 regulations (2025) developed under the Forest Conservation and Management Act(FCMA) CAP 385 at the Ministry’s Headquarters. The meeting discussed the charcoal regulation aimed to establish a sustainable charcoal value chain to enhance livelihoods in line with Kenya kwanza administration Bottom Up Economic Agenda(BETA) as well as mitigating climate change impacts. It underscored the legal framework that ensures sustainable utilization of gums and resins forest resources while promoting environmental conservation and economic growth. Similarly, the discussion highlighted the registration of private forest regulation that establishes a structured framework for the registration, management, and conservation of private forests in Kenya. These regulations aim to promote sustainable forest management practices among private forest owners, ensuring environmental conservation while providing economic benefits through incentives, technical assistance, and financial support. The CS was accompanied by Forestry PS Mr. Gitonga Mugambi, Secretary Administration Mr. Evans Muturi, Ag. Forest Conservation Secretary Mr. George Tarus, among other KEFRI and KFS representatives.
The launch and implementation of the Care Reform Strategy for counties in the Eastern Region took place on Friday, in Gatundu. This marks a critical step in ensuring that every child enjoys their full rights and responsibilities. The initiative emphasizes family – and community based care for children, aligning with the National Care Reform Strategy (2022-2032). The Eastern Region, which is home to over 7,600 children across 120 charitable children’s institutions and 134 children in 3 statutory children’s institutions, stands to gain significantly from this initiative. The strategy will strengthen family structures, reduce unnecessary child-family separations, promote reunification, and increase access to high-quality alternative care options.
