The Vice Chairperson of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), John Okinda, has called upon the relevant security agencies to relook at their strategies to end the ongoing abductions in the country. Okinda condemned the ongoing cases of abductions that have largely remained unresolved. “We as a church are against abductions, and we call upon the state to act to prevent any lost lives that can occur as a result of these abductions because life is sacred,” said Okinda.
Maua Town Municipal Manager, Timothy Mwenda, has issued a stern warning against illegal water connections, stating that anyone caught will face penalties or legal action. Mwenda emphasized the importance of following legal procedures when accessing water services, stressing that illegal connections not only lead to water shortages but also pose a significant risk to the town’s water distribution system, which could ultimately affect all residents. The Municipal Manager urged residents to assist in protecting the provision of water services by reporting any suspicious activities or illegal connections to help in safeguarding water resources.
Good Testimonies Group of Schools recently held a 4K Agricultural Fair, providing a dynamic platform for students, parents, and the community to engage in hands-on learning beyond textbooks. Through interactive demonstrations such as a model farm kitchen garden, students showcased innovative agricultural practices, including organic farming, irrigation methods, soil conservation, and climate-smart agriculture.
Mr. Charles Lusweri, Y-Map Coordinator represented the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development during the event. By equipping young learners with foundational farming skills, the fair fostered an appreciation for agriculture as both a science and a business. The early exposure not only highlighted the role of agriculture in food production, economic growth, and sustainability but also bridged the gap between traditional and modern farming, ensuring communities embrace more efficient and productive practices for a sustainable future.
Othaya MP Wambugu Wainaina has called on the government to prioritize disbursement of bursary funds saying the money plays a crucial role in development of the country since it is vital in addressing basic needs like bursary for the students from less fortunate families. Speaking at Witima Secondary School when officially opened the institution’s administration block, Wainaina said the local NG-CDF committee had prioritized refurbishment of learning institution in a bid to improve the performance.
The MP who also officially opened a similar building for St. Gregory Karima mixed Secondary School affirmed his commitment to ensuring that the government improves education status through the Masomo bora initiative where every day scholar pays Ksh1,000 per term. He also promised to ensure that every family in the area will get connected to the electricity through last mile connectivity. He further urged his constituents to continue registering for Social Health Authority (SHA).
