Nyeri County governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga and his Nyandarua counterpart Moses Kiarie Badilisha yesterday held a consultative meeting where the two leaders explored various ways of partnering.
The two pledged to enhance relations and further partnership for their residents mutual benefit.
They observed that two counties, which are largely agricultural, will among other areas to boost production in the Agriculture sector thereby creating employment opportunities and increasing farmers proceeds.
During the meeting held at Nyeri governor’s office in Nyeri town, the two leaders also agreed on having a partnership in Health and youth welfare.
They pledged to rejuvenate the Central Region Economic Bloc (CEREB) and called upon their counterparts to join in the cause to promote the economies of the 10 member counties in areas of Agriculture, Trade, Health, and Tourism, among others.
The Governors also highlighted socio-economic and political challenges prevailing in the regional economic bloc.
The bloc’s primary objective is leveraging on economies of scale in undertaking joint development projects and activities for its 10 member counties, which are Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Laikipia, Murang’a, Kiambu, Nakuru and Nyandarua.
Nyandarua is home to over 70 per cent of the Aberdare National Park and Forest Reserve, and hosts Kenya’s only highland lake, Ol’Bollosat; cultural tourism through Happy Valley Homes; agri-tourism; sports tourism and equatorial lines.
After the meeting, Governor Badilisha graced this year’s Central Kenya ASK National Show at Kabiru-ini Showground, on the outskirts of Nyeri town, whose theme is “Promoting Innovation and Technology in Agriculture and Trade.”
The show which attracted over 110 exhibitors and thousands of showgoers ends today.
