The county government of Nyeri yesterday embarked on issuing bursary to needy and bright students across the county.
Area governor Mutahi Kahiga said the bursary is targeting at least two students from each of the 30 wards that comprises the county.
“My administration is committed to ensuring that no child misses out on school due to lack of school fees. Through the Elimu Bursary Fund and the Governor’s Scholarship Programme which sponsors two bright but needy students per ward, we have been able to change the stories of students drawn from vulnerable homes,” he said after the first day of issuing the cheques.
He was accompanied by his deputy governor designate David Kinaniri Warui and senior officers from the Department of Education led by CEC Margaret Macharia.
