Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua yesterday temporarily stopped the inquiry into the death of Dr Wahome Gakuru.
The duo got a reprieve after a court in Nyeri temporarily adjourned the proceedings in the inquest of late Nyeri Governor who died in a road accident along Nyeri-Nairobi highway.
Yesterday, Nyeri Chief Magistrate Francis Adanyi directed that the matter be adjourned until May 3 pending the outcome of an application lodged at the High Court by the two.
The two UDA senior supporters in the county have moved to Court seeking revision of orders summoning them to testify in the inquest.
The directives for them to testify were issued last year as persons of interest.
In giving his directions the magistrate noted that he was aware the application for the revision of the orders was before the superior court and was set for mention on April 5.
The inquest before the lower court is inquiring into the accident in which Dr Gakuru died along at Makenji area in Murangโa County on November 7, 2017.
โWe are unable to proceed with the hearing today. In the meantime I direct the file to be returned to the High Court registry and a skelton file be opened for the purposes of the proceeding at the lower court,โ Adanyi directed.
So far several witnesses have testified in the inquest.
