Nyeri MPs In Consultative Meetings With CSs Muuga and Chirchir

Members of Parliament from five constituencies in Nyeri County yesterday held consultative meetings with two Cabinet Secretaries over various development projects.

The five discussed various methodologies that should be applied to speed up development in Roads, Water, Irrigation and Sanitation.

They met Cabinet Secretaries Davis Chirchir of Roads and his Water, Sanitation and Irrigation counterpart Eng. Eric Muuga at their respective offices, which are both situated at Community area in Nairobi.

The MPs who attended the meeting were Wambugu Wainaina (Othaya), Wainaina Njoroge (Kieni), Maina Mathenge (Nyeri Town), Geoffrey Wandeto ( Tetu) and John Kaguchia (Mukurwe-ini). It is only Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi who was missing.

At Maji House, the MPs met Eng. Muuga chaired the meeting which, just like that of his colleague, Chirchir was a follow-up of a last week one where they met President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi. Eng. Muuga was accompanied by both Principal Secretaries Dr Julius Korir and CPA Ephantus Kimotho.

Sources at the meeting said the leaders had a positive engagement with the Ministry leadership on water projects as well as irrigation projects that are ongoing and requested for extra funding especially the upcoming AfDB projects and borehole projects.

The CS thanked the MPs for visiting the Ministry to express their requests and that the Ministry will continue fast tracking the progress of ongoing projects and consider funding for higher priority planned projects when funds will be available.

Also present from the Ministry were Eng. Onyango, Eng. Mary Wamaitha, Eng. Martin Ng’aa, Eng. Bonface Mulama, Maurice Opondo and Ian Thande.

Tana Water Works Development Agency which is the Ministry’s implementating agency on Water and Sanitation sectors in Nyeri county and several other counties was represented by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Eng. Philip Gichuki while National Irrigation Authority that caters for the Irrigation sector was represented by its CEO  Eng. Mwasya CEO.

At the Ministry of Roads, CS Chirchir chaired the meeting where each MP presented a list of roads that they would like prioritised.

After the meeting, the leaders thanked the two ministries officials for giving them an ear and hoped funds would be made available for the proposed projects and others.
