Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga today accompanied President William Ruto and Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome on an inspection tour of the Kilimani Police Housing Project. The site visit is part of the government’s broader strategy to provide decent and affordable housing to security personnel under the Affordable Housing Programme.
Located in Nairobi, the Kilimani project will deliver 542 modern residential units tailored to the needs of police officers. The project also includes key amenities such as a commercial centre, hospital, social hall, gym, Early Childhood Development (ECD) school, gatehouses, and accommodation for subordinate staff—creating a complete and inclusive living environment for officers and their families.
During the inspection, PS Hinga reiterated the government’s commitment to police welfare through infrastructure investment. He emphasized that decent housing is vital to boosting the morale, safety, and productivity of officers who serve on the frontlines of national security.
He noted that the government is intentional about creating livable, secure communities that support not only officers but also their dependents. The holistic approach taken in Kilimani aligns with the Affordable Housing Programme’s goal of improving living standards while stimulating job creation and urban renewal.
President Ruto praised the ongoing works and affirmed his administration’s dedication to transforming Kenya’s housing sector through partnerships, efficiency, and transparency. CS Alice Wahome echoed the sentiment, commending the project’s inclusivity and pace of progress.
PS Hinga urged the public, especially uniformed officers and young Kenyans, to take advantage of the Boma Yangu platform, which provides access to affordable housing opportunities across the country. He called on Kenyans to stay informed and participate actively in shaping a new housing reality.
