Ruto’s Betrayal Has Eroded Mt Kenya Residents Confidence – Kahiga

Nyeri County governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga has accused President Willian Ruto of betraying the residents of Mt Kenya by renigning on the pre-election agreement and throwing them under the bus.
Speaking during Kameme FM Morning Show hosted by presenter Gatonye Mbugua, Kahiga noted that there is nothing to show for over 3.5 million votes the region put in Ruto’s basket but only contempt and disrespect leading to disenchantment and regret.

The fire spitting county chief further urged the head of state to engage his deputy as he constituted the new cabinet as they were elected on the same ticket and was the custodian of the region’s interest.
He however hastened to add that he had no quarrel with representation of other regions with pro rata basis as the essence of elections is for the winner to form government and appoint people he can trust even as he serves the entire population.
“If our competitors had won the last General Elections, would they have included those who opposed them in their government?” wondered the governor noting that democracy demands that the majority have their way even as they listen to the minority.
On accusation of tribalism, Kahiga wondered why all other communities and regions could and indeed always met and declared their stand on various issues without anyone raising a finger but any coming together of Mt Kenya was met with tribal tagging.
He accused the president of condoning and even abetting the disrespect and demeaning of his deputy by relatively junior leaders including his (deputy president Gachagua) local Member of Parliament, Eric Wamumbi who ordered the opening of drinking dens closed on earlier by the second in command.
The county chief also singled out the former Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale who denied the DP access to Military choppers a few months ago as well as the National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung’wa who in recently received outburst told the Deputy President, “ni athii agakue” loosely meaning, let him go and die.
The governor also wondered how junior staff at State House including bloggers would get the courage to demean him by among others things, purporting to give him directions without the Head of State admonishing them.
On the Kenya Kwanza government’s inability to actualize its promises, Kahiga said that there were too many promises during the campaigns that cannot be achieved in a short time and advised the president not to continue making any more pledges before fulfilling the pending ones to restore the citizens’ confidence.
“Our children, the Gen-Zs are not crazy but making genuine demands and should be listened to as they are well informed, focused and major stakeholders in the posterity of this nation,” advised the governor.
He further advised the president to appoint men and women of integrity in his new cabinet not like some of the former Cabinet Secretaries who were clueless, arrogant and disrespectful to the citizens they were supposed to serve with humility.
“How dare a people’s servant publicly declare that he wears shoes worth Ksh80,000, money obtainable in some families only through loans”, wondered the Nyeri county chief.
On those harboring agenda of sidelining Gachagua not to be President Ruto’s running mate during the 2027 General Election by fronting a woman, Kahiga scarstically saying, “we shall put him a Woman Guild’s headscarf so that he can qualify”.
Thousands of listeners lauded the governor for his broad move of defending the interests of the mountain region.
“I wish we had four or five other leaders like Governor Mutahi Kahiga. This region will be at it’s rightful place and no one would ever dare intimidate us,” said Charles Muriithi from Nyeri town.
