Senator Cherargei: Kenya Needs A Seven Years Presidential Term Limit

Amid Inflation rate on the Kenyan economy, outspoken Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has shown self-aggrandizement by tabling a four points proposal to the National dialogue committee that if approved will make Kenyans use more than Kes 14 Billion on Referendum polls.
On a letter that Senator Cherargei seeked to be heard and recommended ,it states the need for Institutionalizing of office on official opposition leader, Reintroduction of prime minister office that requires both to be appearing at the floor of National Assembly, Constitution backing of CDF kitty and Ward Development fund also on Veto powers to the Senate.
“This is my personal opinion and the constitution is clear on freedom of speech,Why am calling for this extension is because immediately elections are over in Kenya, one year is usually lost by trying to settle those who didn’t win the elections then another year on unnecessary politics ,now the president is left with 2years to work since the final year people are on campaign mode,” Lamented Senator Cherargei.
However the ruling party UDA, which senator is a member has distance itself from the sentiments of term limit extension despite critics and analyst saying that it’s a strategy for the regime testing the waters towards removal of a term limit.
While talking to several UDA legislators from both the Riftvalley region and Mt Kenya whom are on the contrary opinion that the current five years term is enough for a performing president who has delivered his or her promises and maintained efficiency in management.
“How is extending the term limit serving the common mwananchi at the pyramid and if we think about perpetuity how these will be effective” Lamented Kirinyaga Woman Rep Njeri Maina
“We as young legislators especially from the rift region we are not part and parcel of the amendments which have financial and budget implications to common mwananchi, it’s simple if someone who is elected performs automatically he or she will be elected,”says Lelmengit Mp Emgwen Nandi County.
