A delegation of Members of the Departmental Committee on Sports and Culture visited the site of the 2006 plane crash that claimed the lives of prominent leaders among them MPs who were on a peace mission in Marsabit County.
The move is in line with the plan to put up a monument in honour of the victims of the accident.
Marsabit County was at the time hit by tribal clashes.
The MPs who died included Dr. Bonaya Godana, Mirugi Kariuki, Abdi Tari Sasura, Guracha Galgallo and Titus Ngoyoni.
Anglican Church Bishop Waqo and other senior civil servants in the security sector who accompanied the MPs in search of peace in the County also lost their lives.
The National Heroes Council , under the State Department for Culture is planning to put up a monument at the site in honour of the crash victims for commitment and dedication in search for lasting peace in Upper Eastern.
Earlier, the Committee Members paid a courtesy call on the Country Commissioner, Marsabit County.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment and support to the National Heroes Council in undertaking the noble project.
