The management of Othaya constituency based St Teresa Kanyange Academy has donated thousands of seedlings to its fraternity.
Parents, teachers, support staff and pupils have an opportunity to plant trees or fruits courtesy of the institution.
Through the school’s Director Mr Githinji Wairagu, the fraternity were asked to collect trees or fruit seedlings of their choice and plant in a place of their choice.
As the rains continue to hit the ground, the generosity by the school administration was seen as God sent as those concerned rushed to a trees/fruits nursery centre near Othaya Police Station where they were secured.
Julius Nderitu Githogori alias Marimu who owns the trees and fruits seedlings welcomed the move saying he had been contracted to give out, a move he said would assist in increasing the number of trees in the area.
On his part, the school director said his move was aimed at assisting the new Kenya Kwanza administration in increasing the country’s forest cover which will eventually address the Climate change.
“We came with this idea following President William Ruto’s announcement seeking Kenyans to grow 5 billion trees as part of his climate change mitigation agenda,” Mr Githinji said.
