What makes life to be good? To some it is good health, good food, good clothing, good housing, high quality education, high end cars and good family. In general many people equate good life to riches, fame and accolades. One thing that stands out is that after having good life people wish to enjoy it for a lengthy period of time in fact forever if possible. However no one lives forever so in cognizant of this the best step they take is to plan succession.
No matter how good a vision is it will just remain an imagination until that time when it is actualized, to do this you need to have clarity of what you aspire to achieve and in your absence you need someone who is aware of your intentions to sustain your vision.
Whenever people observe you while you are doing something they are able to learn a lot from you even without necessary having to utter any word. Through continued observation your actions people easily identify your philosophy in life.
In the recent past we have witnessed in and out of court battles of family members belonging to famous people as well as collapse of business empires of these great men and women in the country. It is surprising to note that some owners of these empires built them from scratch that is they did not get their wealth through inheritance.
They sacrificed a lot, brought up their children in lavish lifestyles despite themselves having been brought up in humble families. They also ensure that everything is intact at the time of handing over their estate to their children. What promotes the care free attitude and destruction of inherited properties is failure of the children to have the interest of their parents’ vision at heart.
They just think as if the owner of the property is one of the property. They fail to give life to the vision of the previous owner of the estate and as a result they kill his vision. This disconnect between the parent and the children is either due to the values of the parents being absent in their children or the environment in the children heart and mind being unconducive for the vision to nourish for example conflict in ideologies between to parents and the siblings.
Children learn more by observation than through listening especially if a behaviour is rewarded or is assumed to be rewarded there is a high likelihood that the children will replicate it with an intention of getting rewards also.
In the world that we are living the human wants are unlimited and so are the people schedules in an attempt to fulfill some of these wants. This has led to absentee parents or spouses. However it is recommendable that the parents should try as much as possible to be physically present so that they model their children according to how they want their vision to be carried in the future days.
Physical presence helps the kids not only to listen to know what the parents expects of them but also to see how the parents does things in order to emulate them. In traditional African society most of the skills were passed from one generation to the other through on job training where if the parents are medicine men, hunters or black smiths they would go to the work field alongside their children and the children would learn through observation as well as through listening, the method used to be effective.
Among the Asian community more so Indians business community they have a similar kind of arrangement to that of traditional African societies where in a business you will find the child who is trainee, the father who is the trainer and the grandfather who is the consultant or specialist, all in the same location so as a customer you are served by the trainee if need for further enquiry he requests the father to support and if the matter is too weighty the grandfather’s lengthy experience comes into action.
