UNI Global Union is currently hosting capacity building empowerment program under Uni Africa- SASK Project in Maputo, Mozambique.
The theme of the meeting is Strengthening Workers and Gender Equality in Africa.
During the sessions UNI Global Union has urged participating Countries drawn from Africa to invest and be innovative on membership organisation, formulation of laws and regulations and policies aimed at protecting and cushioning worker’s in order to remain strong and relevant.

Kenya National Private Security Workers’ Union (KNPSWU), Communication Workers (COWU) and Kenya Union of Commercial, Food and Allied Workers ( KUCFAW) are among Unions under COTU(K) participating in the workshop.
UNI Global representatives from Africa noted that Unions are currently under threat, combative fights from trade and labour resistant regimes as well emerging technological evolution.
The convention is a progressive campaign geared towards training its affiliates on various key areas affecting workers across the world.
The training in Maputo is focusing on organisation leverage campaigns, communication techniques and SWOT Analysis towards respective affiliate Unions on membership organisation as well as financial planning and reporting, monitoring & evaluation and networking strategies to boost goals, targets and growth


The power and strength of Unions is solely on membership capacity, said Bro. Joash Soita, the National Organising Secretary at KNPSWU attending the forum.
Let us keep networking, maintain the focus and push for the growth trade Unions in our respective Nations, added Bro. Soita.
In attendance too from KNPSWU is Sis. Nelly Zighe Shop steward from Mombasa Kenya.
UNI GLOBAL UNION has lined up two training workshops to be carried out in Nairobi, Kenya this year: Gender equality and parental care in July 3-6 and Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiation skills, 1- 2 August, 2023.

The workshops will see UNI GLOBAL affiliates across Africa converge in Kenya.
