Former PS Irungu Nyakera has promised Murang’a County that if elected as the next Governor of the area, he will promote value addition for local produce in a bid to generate wealth and employment.
He said the County has potential of generating huge income annually if value addition venture will be supported.
While speaking in Kandara, Nyakera said value addition is the solution of many of the problems the locals have been undergoing , as selling raw products has denied them getting better returns from the market.
Accompanied by his running mate Catherine Wairimu Mugu, Nyakera said value addition apart from generating income will also create employment to hundreds of the youth and provide them with various opportunities. The Dou is contesting on Farmers Party.
He said he was committed in transforming the county and its citizenry.
“Murang’a needs change to help in the transformation of the devolved sectors and more so creation of employment to our children who have completed education,” said Nyakera.
He pleaded with Murang’a residents to elect him as the second government as he has the capacity to transform the county and deliver the pledges he has made in agriculture, education, and value addition among others.
“Once elected I will work towards job creation for the youth among establish cottage industries in the sub counties,” said Nyakera.
He added that many of the youth were idle and establishment of the cottage industries will keep them engaged.
Other main opponents of Nyakera are Jamleck Kamau and the embattled Irungu Kanyata of Jubilee and UDA respectively.
