- Deep thinkers have good background of concepts and theories, they view and analyse issues through multiple lenses and angles. They see the hidden issues, provide more meaning to what they observe and look at the root or basics of issues.
- Through deep thinking you are able to attain freedom of thoughts, create and entertain meaningful and valuable ideas.
- Critical thinking is continuous and attentive consideration of any belief and theory based on its principles and expounding more on its outcome or conclusion. Critical thinkers broaden the perspectives or horizons leading to improvement of the idea.
To think refer to formation of an idea in your mind either intentionally or unintentionally.
There are three main types of thinking namely
- Convergent or logical thinking,
- Divergent or imaginational and
- Lateral which encompasses both logical and imaginational thinking.
A deep thinker scrutinizes the meanings and nuances behind the evidence, checks for missing context, hidden logic, unclear information and implied meanings.
To think deeply requires to think beyond the obvious, to think beyond what you know even beyond what you have preconceived. This extra mile in thinking helps you to discover the truth.

The major difference between deep thinking and critical thinking is that deep thinking deals with the level of thinking( scrutiny of underlying issues), whereas critical thinking looks at all available information with an aim of minimising bias and ascertaining accuracy of the information provided.
Critical thinkers are attracted and interested in exploring the conceptual world.
Below are some signs that you are a deep thinker.
Active and vast imagination
Deep thinkers have wide perspective in their thoughts and are continuously thinking, they see issues in both broad and narrow lenses and from various angles. They explore ideas in a creative and unusual way even beyond the existing known rules. They visualize new scenarios and try to actualize them.
Enjoy exploring new territories
Deep thinkers take interest in understanding new fields. They are lovers of knowledge.
In everything they see they try to inquire the reason behind every action and explore all the possible alternatives. They like to know history of every happening.
They are eager to learn new things, happy to broaden and deepen their understanding.
Good in offering solution to challenges
Many deep thinkers look at issues intensely and conceptually then analyse situations to understand them better thereafter they come up with creative and innovate ways of improving the situation.
They have sound background on many concepts and theories.
They easily provide alternate options of doing things to avoid the challenges currently being encountered.
They are great planners
Deep thinkers are not only able to dig the history of information but also predict future, this knowledge is essential in planning.
Their ability to grasp basic concepts aid them have consistency in planning and accuracy in estimating.
Most of them are introverts
Most of the deep thinkers are inward thinking. They internally reflect issues, dig deep in issues and think broadly.
They are quiet and like to learn through watching after which they try to replicate and usually prefer to stay alone.
They do not entertain cheap gossip
Deep thinkers are fact oriented people who have little or no regard for unsubstantiated information. They enjoy dealing with structured and sensible information. If you tell them any information they do independent research before making comments. They prefer verifiable information.
They are analytical
There is a lot of determination put and high level scheming practiced by deep thinkers. They are able to predetermine their moves with precision, this is enhanced by their great research skills, sound understanding of basic concepts and great appetite for perfection.
They are self-aware
Spending a lot of time in solitary and internally reflecting most of the deep thinkers are much aware of their strengths and weaknesses. In execution of duties they capitalize on their strengths while during ordinary times they keep exploring for ways of improving their weak points.
