Roads construction expert, Engineer Kariuki Muchemi is yearning to be the next Member of Parliament for Mukurwe-ini constituency to fix several issues bedevelling the area residents.
Eng. Muchemi want to fix roads which is his expertise, make sure the residents have enough water for drinking and irrigation, ensure all homes are connected with electricity among other things.
Speaking when he was hosted by Inooro TV yesterday, Eng. Muchemi disclosed that he would be contesting the seat under Jubilee party ticket adding that he was optimistic he would emerge the winner after the August 9th General Election.
“I was brought up, schooled and have lived here in Mukurwe-ini. Even though I work as roads engineer in various parts of the country and beyond, my home has always remained Mukurwe-ini. I thus understand what the area residents require and will address their various needs once they elect me as their MP, ” he said.
Other areas he will address include establishment of ICT hubs in various trading centres, upgrading of the stadium, upgrading of various youth polytechnics and establishment of a ceramic factory in Rugi area where there is special soil which is usually exported to Nairobi and other areas in its raw form.
Eng. Muchemi noted that to address food deficiency, he would prioritise introduction of irrigation water do that the residents stop relying on rain fed farming system saying Rivers Gikira, Gura and Sagana that traverses the constituency had more than enough water for such undertaking.
On roads, he noted that they should be made motorable to ease transport of farm inputs and produce.
Revealing that the area had 70 per cent electricity connectivity, Eng. Muchemi said he would ensure the remaining areas, most of which is in rural places also enjoyed the service which will among other things reduce use of kerosene and improve evening home learning of pupils and students.
If cleared by Jubilee party, he will face it with among others Speaker of Nyeri County Assembly John Kaguchia who is expected to contest under UDA party ticket.
Others are the incumbent Anthony Kiai who is also expected to defend his seat.
