Since independence it has been the kind of tradition for Kenyan presidents to revel their cards during their first 100days. It is during this period that the electorate gets a clear picture whether their votes ushered in a talker or a doer. For example, the Kenya’s 3rd president Mwai Kibaki, immediately went about implementing his grand infrastructural plan a day after he was sworn in. This lead to what is known as Thika super highway. He also introduced free primary education leading to enrollment of estimated 1million new students.
Unemployment problem among the youths has become a major challenge in our country since independence and this has lead the youths to engage in borrowing loans from mobile loans apps, others usually try to invest in gambling with the little amount of money they have which usually end up losing them completely. After all these, the youths end up abusing drugs and as a remedy to their trauma and stress. Others sink in depression because of the pressure to get a job is high.
Surprisingly you may find a situation where a job vacancy is advertised, thousands of educated yet unemployed youth queue with their envelopes full of prerequisites that should merit them to secure the job but unfortunately the ones responsible for the recruiting and scrutinizing them already know the candidate who has gotten the job even before the job interview. Therefore we pray that through the slogan of bottom up ‘ the current government will intervene and create job opportunities for the youths.
